Great cruise with a few tweaks needed

Cabin: infinity in Aurea- loved the window- it performs equally to a balcony. Was it as good as yacht club dining? No. But you could show up when you wanted. But only dinner no breakfast. Same menu as the rest of the ship. Pasta consistently good and pizza great. Breakfast at the buffet wasn’t very good. Loved the Carmel rolls No omelet station- all pre prepared and bacon is awful. I wish they had other early options since many ports required us to leave early.

Entertainment- amazing! The panoramic lounge is the best. Make your reservations immediately when on board or every day around 5:00 for the next day. The male singer is incredible and the dancers and acrobats are stunning.

Grewr ports. However- our 2 tours booked through the ship were poor. Ourtour guides barely spoke English. Whereas our tours booked through TripAdvisor/Viator were all great. Much better Guides.

Good but spoilt by food and other guests

Ship is stunning, very clean. Staff are amazing and can’t do enough for you.

Cabins- we booked an infinite ocean view cabin and it was great. Had an issue with the window opening and this took two days and persistence from us to get sorted plus the disruption of not being able to use the cabin for most of the day the second day. This was fixed and the guest services manager Rita was extremely helpful.

Our cabin was spotless and our cabin attendant Melanie was faultless.

Food - this is the worst food we have ever had on any cruise ship and really lets it down massively. Very little choice and lukewarm warm at best. All restaurants serve the same menu.

Entertainment - this was amazing and literally something for every taste. Shows only 30min long and we felt this could be longer 45min would be better we feel

Other guests- this was absolutely horrendous, mostly European clientele and I have never encountered so many rude and disrespectful people ever. No queues no please or thank yous and children literally run wild. Ruined it for us

Tip- booked Aurea package if you can

Very Disappointing Experience with MSC

Getting onto the ship was extremely slow. We waited almost 2 hours just to get through the entrance and board the ship. The whole process was poorly organized and frustrating from the very beginning.

Then there is the casino. While playing, even the waiters don’t bring you basic tap water. You have to leave your table and go get water yourself. This is unbelievable for a cruise ship that is supposed to provide good customer service.

And charging customers for drinking water on top of that? Seriously, are you kidding me?

We have traveled with Royal Caribbean many times, and we have never experienced anything like this. If I were teaching a business class on how to lose customers, this would be a perfect example.

I will never take an MSC cruise again — never ever. This was my first and last MSC cruise. Unbelievable

Won't use MSC again in a hurry

For a massive ship, it feels really small. We've only been on Royal Caribbean ships before, and this was our first time with MSC. Honestly, we won't be looking to use MSC again in a hurry.

The cabin was excellent, and the room attendant was also brilliant. The rest was mostly meh or negative.

The buffet was probably the worst experience and layout on a ship we've ever had. There are two, but only one is open to the vast majority of passengers, so it's crazy busy and you can't get a seat, even when we just went as a couple. When you do find a seat, you then have to 'try' and get food, which is chaotic with the sheer volume of people. The food is different on each side of the ship too, so you have to walk through very busy passageways to get what you like and then walk back through them with a plate of food. Even after that, you then have to queue at the one bar for a drink. So again, as a couple, you can't really eat together at the same time. Plus, I'd say 90% of people don't wash their hands on entry! Totally different experience on Royal Caribbean.

To me, it feels purposely designed to infuriate you so they force you into thinking about using the extra paid-for speciality restaurants.

Table service was fine, no complaints there.

Room service for breakfast was consistently 30–45 minutes earlier than we asked for it. So we'd book 7:45 to 8am and, without fail, it would arrive just after 7am.

Entertainment booking was terrible. You can't see on the app what's available for tomorrow until around 9–10pm the night before, so you can't plan ahead or even look at future days and set a reminder to try and book something. We saw one show, and everything else was fully booked.

We had the soda drinks package, which was fine apart from when you wanted a drink. There isn't a refill station — well, there is, but that's extra! You have to find a bar. But that then involves using stairs and lifts and wading through huge crowds. Deck 6, by the pizza place, was generally the best and easiest place to get a drink without a queue, but it's a trek from Deck 12. From the bar, you can get cans of soda — the same cans that are in the minibar in the room — but you can't take those without a charge. Again, nonsensical.

The use of space on this ship is bizarre. There is no way to simply walk around the ship without going up and down stairs constantly. There is a massive chocolate place on Deck 6 which is totally empty even when the ship is rammed full of passengers. That clearly should be a bar or something more useful.

The elevators — wow, what a terrible system. Simply add a display to show what floor they're currently on. You can quite literally wait 5+ minutes for one. If it told you what floor it was currently on, at least you'd have an idea of how long it would be. I think it's mainly Italians, but people will pile into a lift before letting anyone out. Just rude.

The gym was good but closed at 10pm on a sea day. Why?

In general, I think this ship is designed to annoy you so much that you feel like you need to pay to remove yourself from the general crowds. The only coffee I had was at dinner or with room-service breakfast. You can pretty much forget getting one from any of the indoor bars; you won't get a seat unless you go to the — guess what — pay-extra coffee shop.

MSC World Europa cruise

I’m sticking with celebrity X

MSC ship is nice would have been nicer if allowed in the all ship. Staff not really clued up on what goes on and kept giving out wrong information. Buffet food 4 out of 10 restaurant hexagon food 8 out of 10 service 8 out of 10 cabin cleaner 8 out of 10. Ship is quite noisy at all times of day but I guess it would be as they are so many people on board. We was allocated the hexagon restaurant and one particular night we where 15 minutes late from our 7.30 table and we where told to come back at 9.30 which it’s not a problem but when I found out our allocated table was empt All that time then it became an issue. Simply staff are clueless they’ve been programmed like robots. Quite a disappointment really when you expect better service
